We got it!

The Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market has been granted one more season at the old bus depot at 44 University Avenue East. This means a lot to the vendors, to the branding efforts, and provides stability until a the new market is open in the old arena.

A new market in the old arena

We look forward to progress in Windsor’s downtown but for this year (until something is built/open), there’s still a lot of planning to do.

You can see a brief comment from us on A-Channel News from Tuesday night.

This is it…the final day!

Saturday, October 8, marks the last day of the 2011 season for the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market.  To celebrate another successful year, we invite you to join us for a day of family-friendly fun.

We will have free family portraits all day, a free gift to the first 50 visitors, and free cake at 10 a.m. The live music starts at 9 a.m. and CJAM will also visit.

This season saw about 25 vendors selling goods during the peak of the season and the final day will close with approximately 20 vendors.  Pumpkins, squash, apples, raspberries, beets, cauliflower, corn, baked goods, beef, fish, honey and more are still available.  Other fall favorites such as sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie are also for sale.

Vendor coordinator & chair, Natalie Bownes offers a bit of hope for those who will miss the market, “Just because the market is closing down for the season, doesn’t mean you have to stop supporting local farmers.  Many still sell directly from their farms and there are a lot of delivery services that have started up.”

Only 2 weeks to go!

There are only 2 weeks left of this season for the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market.

Be sure to stop in to find all of your local favourites all in one place.

Doug from Nana’s Bakery is taking your orders now for Thanksgiving pies. Order at the market or call him at the bakery at (519) 966-2434 and he will bring them to the market on October 8 for you to pick up!

See you at the market!
